My First Impression About The Dark Web

Few days ago i came to know about the dark web, aka the deep web. An article claimed that 90% of the internet is the dark web and the internet as we see it, called the surface web is only the tiny portion of the actual internet.

I actually didn’t believe that there could be something like that.

Later i found another article and some wikipedia stuff about it. Then i got really curious. After a couple of tutorials, and some speedy research, i actually dived into the deep web.

Still now, what i actually found is a market, starting from Drug, Stolen cards, accounts, devices, and perverted porn child abuse/death/necrophilia/rape and other sick stuff. But nothing actually interesting 😦 May be i am not deep enough yet.

The sites urls at the so called “dark web” are weird.

wtf is that?

Another thing is about the claim of owning 90% of the web in the dark region. I still didn’t find anything amazing to believe that. Most of the boards and forums are empty or at least 2 years old. Because of the tor thing, its painfully slow. Many of the sites are down.

Finally, my first impression about the dark web is, Okay dude, there might be some illegal stuff, and the weird urls with onion network made them look dark enough, but that is 90%  of the web??? 2 year old tv shows, drug and child porn? Seriously? ?

  1. After reading through a lot of this thread, it seems a lot are confused about what the deep web is. Its basically anything on the web that can not be found through a regular search engine. The deep web is several orders of magnitude larger than the searchable web, but the majority of it is not top secret docs on aliens or anything like that. When get onto your banks website and log into your account, all the data you access is part of the deep web. Your emails are part of the deep web. If you have a photo sharing site account like flickr and your photos are private, thats part of the deep web. So when you hear that the deep web is much more massive than the searchable web, its mostly people private data and stuff like that that no one cares about, its not some vast network of top secret information.
