Enable numlock at login screen in Ubuntu

When I log in to my Ubuntu 12.04,I need to enable numlock manually every time before typing password.Below steps will show you how to let numlock be on at login screen by installing numlockx and costomzing lightdm’s configurartion,hope this can save your time.

1.Open a terminal by pressing Ctl+Alt+t or from Dash

2.Install numlockx using below command in your terminal.Input your password if prompted

sudo apt-get install numlockx

3.Open file /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf with your favorite editor,I use gedit here

sudo gedit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

4.Add below line to lightdm.conf then click Save and exit

greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on

Your lightdm.conf should look like this then:

5.You are done.The numlock will be on at login screen after a reboot
